Before this, I had never used a different programme for Maths or PSHE. There were different policies and approaches to managing learning and behaviour within the school. I was lucky that everyone was so caring and constantly checking that I understood all the information or was on hand to support.

Then, after Christmas, I was sent to my Second School Placement… A completely different school, with different procedures, in a different year group with entirely different children! I was nervous to say the least.

The immediate welcome I received from both my main school and my second placement really gave me a boost to that confidence which I feel I often lack. From the first day in both schools, I was made to feel a part of the community, respect was shown from staff and children alike, and due to the initial positive relationships I developed within my main school, settling into my second placement was much easier, as communication was a skill I’d built up over the past two terms.

For me this consisted of eighteen years of schooling, with my primary education being, of course, right at the start of this. I found myself wondering if my subject knowledge remained and how would I ever teach a class if I could not even remember my own learning. Nevertheless, it soon became apparent that my concerns were nothing but pre-course jitters.
