Teaching Internships Summer 2026

This is a wonderful opportunity for students who are interested in a career in teaching and would like to know what it’s like to be a teacher in a secondary school.

An internship will provide you with school and classroom experience and you will have dedicated support from skilled teaching staff and subject mentors.

Our internship programme will run from Monday 15th June to Friday 3rd July 2026. You are expected to attend the full three weeks and will be paid £455 per week (£1365 in total).

Who can register an interest?

If you are an undergraduate student, you’ll need to be in your second, third or final year of study to apply for an internship.

What subjects are available?

You will need to be interested in teaching one of the following subjects and be studying a related degree:

  • Chemistry
  • Computing
  • Design & Technology
  • Languages (French and Spanish)
  • Maths
  • Physics

What will the internship include?

Each student will be placed in a subject department for three weeks. During this time the students will undertake observations of experienced teachers, support groups of learners, lead a small project and will have the opportunity to jointly plan and co-deliver lessons.

Why take part?

  • You will get paid while learning what a career in teaching involves
  • You will spend time shadowing teaching staff and observing lessons
  • You will receive dedicated support from an experienced school-based mentor
  • You will gain valuable work experience
  • You will find out first-hand what teacher training options are available when you graduate

How many students can be supported on the programme?

There are limited places available for the Summer 2026 programme. Registering an interest as soon as possible is recommended.

What you need to do next

Applications open Wednesday 28th January and will close on Friday 6th March 2026.

Please complete an application form. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an in-person interview in Lincoln by the end of March.

Following a successful interview, candidates will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. This is a safeguarding requirement as you will be working in schools with children.
