Train to Teach
In the primary phase you will be qualified to teach children aged 3 – 11 years, but you must choose an age range to specialise in.
You can choose:
- 3 – 7 years (EYFS and KS1 placements)
- 5- 11 years (KS1 & 2 placements)
As part of the training year, you will be expected to observe teaching across the school, so you have a full understanding of progression within the primary curriculum. We expect trainees to teach the full range of primary subjects during their training year and prepare you for this by partnering with accredited, specialist curriculum hubs, to ensures subject confidence and confidence is nurtured across the year.
In the secondary phase (11- 19 years), you can train to teach pupils in a range of different subjects.

At the end of a successful training course, you will be awarded Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE), which is the equivalent of 60 Masters credits.
