Subject Knowledge Enhancement - East Midlands SKE

The Priory Trust is delighted to have been accredited as a Subject Knowledge Enhancement (SKE) Provider and will be known as East Midlands SKE.  We look forward to supporting future teachers in maths, physics, chemistry, biology, computing, languages, religious education and English across the region.

You might need a SKE to begin an ITT course if:

  • your degree wasn’t in your chosen subject, but is closely related
  • you studied the subject at A level, but not at degree level
  • you have an unrelated degree, but relevant professional knowledge in the subject
  • it's been some time since you used your degree knowledge
  • you studied for a languages degree but need a second language at an acceptable level for teaching in schools
  • you have qualified for the PE with EBACC programme and would like additional subject knowledge for the EBACC subject

Funding for SKE programmes:

The courses are fully funded by the DFE and eligible candidates attract a SKE bursary.  Please contact us for details of eligibility.

How to apply:

To complete a SKE you must have an accepted conditional offer with an ITT provider.  For trainees with the Lincolnshire SCITT programme, requirements for a SKE will be discussed at interview and full support will be given in the SKE process.  Candidates are responsible for applying to the SKE provider directly.
